Advancing legal standards and consumer rights in Africa’s beauty industry

Africa's beauty industry is one of the continent's fastest-growing economic sectors. Beauty Law Africa is a pan-African initiative of the Fashion Law Institute focused on advancing legal awareness, consumer protection, and regulatory innovation in cosmetics, personal care, aesthetics, and beauty services. From skincare and haircare to cosmetics and aesthetic services, we examine the legal, ethical, and policy issues shaping the industry across African markets.

Through research, education, and advocacy, Beauty Law Africa empowers beauty entrepreneurs, legal professionals, regulators, and consumers with the tools to navigate compliance, safety, branding, and intellectual property. Our goal is to foster a legally sound and inclusive beauty ecosystem built on transparency, cultural relevance, and global best practices.
